Healthcare providers deal with a lot of clinical and laboratory data. This data is routinely entered into databases that are referred to as the Healthcare Database Systems. Private practitioners enter routine clinical and laboratory patient-care data into databases known as Electronic Health Records (EHRs). Healthcare databases also include claim records that are maintained for reimbursement purposes. Apart from these, we also have pharmacist databases and patient registries – all of which come under the healthcare databases. Healthcare databases enable the facilitation of services for patient care, administration, and research.
